8 Stranger Things Facts You Need To Know Before Series 2

The final trailer is out, and now all we have to do is wait in anticipation for the second installment of our favourite sci-fi show. So, in order to prepare, take a look at these must-read facts about all things strange-er…

1. Eggos Are Cashing In

Series one left us non-american viewers scratching our heads, asking the show’s most important, unanswered question main question- what on earth is an Eggo? (FYI- they are toastable waffles).

And now, Kellogs are celebrating the return of ST (and no doubt more free product placement) by releasing 9 Eggo recipes, inspired by episode titles. Very clever Mr Kellogs.

2. Barb is getting justice.

The short lived role of poor Barb sparked outrage across nations, leading to a trending hashtag (#justiceforbarb) an emmy nomination for actress Shannon Purser and even a clothing collab with Topshop.

“Gone but not forgotten”- fans were able to pay their respects to Barb at a highly moving shrine featured at Comic-con 2017.

3. Hair is a big deal

With a missing son, money troubles and a gaping hole in her wall, Winona Ryder’s character Joyce Buyers certainly has an excuse for not running a comb through her hair for the entire first series. Ryder requested that her hair be as such, taking inspiration from Meryl Streep’s barnet in Silkwood.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, was said to be far more reluctant when it came to her character’s hair style. Brown was encouraged to align her character’s severe chop with Charlize Theron’s in MadMax. TBF, I would shave my hair off if it made me look like Charlize Theron.

4. Brits are representing

It’s a well known fact that Stranger Things stars some of the coolest kids in the business right now. But a less well known fact- two of them are actually home grown talents. Badass heroine Eleven is played by British actress Millie Bobby Brown, whilst Jonathan Buyers, played by Charlie Heaton, is originally from Yorkshire.

5. These kids are multi-talented

And not only is Stranger Things home of the coolest kids in town, but also some of the most talented. Gaten Matarazzo, played by Dustin Henderson, could be previously spotted playing Gavroche in the Broadway production of Les Miserables. Caleb McLaughlin, who plays Lucas Sinclair, also spent his childhood on Broadway, playing Young Simba in The Lion King.

6. Steve is fit

Well, Steve is a bit of a dick. But Joe Keery, the actor who plays him, is fit. Not only does Joe act, but he is also the guitarist and vocalist for the band Post Animal. Boys who play guitar. Fit.

7. These kids are really cool

And not just like ‘cool for a 13 year old’ cool, but actually cool. For some reason, they seem to have skipped the awkward, dodgy haircut/ puppy fat stage. With close to three milliion instagram followers collectively, Noah Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard, who play Will Buyers and Mike Wheeler respectively, are just effortlessly cool.

8. Jonathan Buyers and Nancy Wheeler are totally going out

They may not have made it together in series one, but IRL Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer have been spotted looking like more than just demogorgon-hunting friends. How exciting!!!

What will happen in the next series, who knows? But now at least you can go into it knowing the most important information; that the ST kids are cooler than we will ever be and that Steve is fit. RIP Barb.
