The Holidays You Need To Take With Your Girl Gang This Year
Girls trips away are literally the best thing in the world. We all know that. But what you don't know is where to take the squad once you've exhausted the post-GCSEs Reading festival, the sixth form 'Napa trip, the attempt at sophistication Marbs, the first pay-check Mykonos, and the 'standard' Ibiza. No worries, we got you.
There’s something for everyone on this list – from party girls to Harry Potter enthusiasts, we’ve got you covered. So read on, and find some inspo to bring your holiday group chat back to life.
1. THE COUNTRY GETAWAY
This one is perfect for a bank holiday weekend (saving on those holiday days). Think open fires, country walks, boozy board game sessions, and plenty of quality time with the girls. You’ll declare to each other that you have always been ‘country girls at heart,’ and return to the big smoke feeling rejuvenated and suitably wholesome.
2. THE GROWN UP BEACH HOLIDAY
Forget Kavos, 'Napa, and other beach holiday destinations of yore – we’re talking chic seaside destinations where fishbowls aren’t on offer, but sunset G&Ts certainly are (Hvar and Positano to name a few). You’re still allowed your summer holiday romances, but rather than drunkenly snogging strangers with your beer goggles on, this time put some planning in. Get on a dating app like Badoo where you can change your location settings for FREE before you even get on your flight. You can have a group swiping session in the departure lounge with your mates and plan a group drink with your favourite matches to get your holiday off to a social start.
3. THE CULTURE VULTURE TRIP
European cities are full of good quality hostels where you can rent out entire rooms just for you and your friends (sleepover!!!), making this the perfect holiday for larger groups. We're thinking along the lines of Berlin, Lisbon and Florence, where you can mooch around museums during the day and then party by night 💃💃💃
4. THE ROAD TRIP
Road trips are a rite of passage for all friendship groups. Rolled down windows + blaring sing-along songs + your mates = perfection. Best of all, you can easily adapt this kind of holiday to suit your budget. That can be anything from a traditional blowout trip across the USA, to a jaunt through the French riviera, or a drive through the Scottish highlands.
5. THE FAR FLUNG TRIP
So going to the classic gap yah destinations (e.g. Thailand, Australia, South America) might require a bit more advance planning, saving, and time off work than your £45 return flight to Berlin. But hear us out - friendship is all about sharing experiences together, and you won’t have these experiences at your monthly 2for1 pizza express catch-up dinner. If you start saving now, you could be strolling through Copacabana together come August!
6. THE ADRENALINE JUNKIE HOLIDAY
Take your holiday experience to dizzying heights by renting out a couple of rooms in a hotel that is an actual crane in Amsterdam, or board down a volcano at 70km an hour in Nicaragua. Tbh, this kind of holiday is worth it just for the awesome pics you’ll get for your Badoo profile. You’ll finally have legit photos to back up your claims to be ‘thrill seeking’ and ‘spontaneous,’ and hopefully bag yourself an adventurous sort as a result.
7. THE HARRY POTTER HOLIDAY
Turn our pipe dreams into your reality and book yourselves a place on the Harry Potter Cruise, running for two trips only this August. You'll get to fan girl out with your pals at the likes of Privet Drive, the great hall, and the Warner Bros studios (plus there are nightly cocktails on the boat!) However, be warned that it might cost you more than a few galleons...
So there you have it, a few more ideas to send to the group. And if they all end up bailing to go on romantic trips away with their annoying friend-stealing boyfriends, fuck it, head to Badoo and sort yourself out a travel companion for yourself 🙋
